This Vintage 10k Gold Cameo Pendant Pin is lovely! The wonderfully hand carved oval shell cameo is mounted in a 10k gold setting. The setting has filigree and floral details. She's beautifully carved with lovely hair, a butterfly wing at her shoulder and atop her head, a draped dress and a pretty face reminiscent of a lovely statue in profile. Cameos are valued in part based on how pleasing the subject is to the eye. This one is very pretty. The cameo setting is unmarked but tests for 10k gold. The pin in back seems to have been replaced and is in good working order. There is also a hinged loop on the back so you can wear this cameo as a pendant if desired. This pin is in nice vintage condition. It's also a nice size and would look wonderful on a lapel, sweater or worn as a pendant.
This carving depicts Psyche, a Greek goddess. The name Psyche means soul and also butterfly. Thus, the goddess Psyche is often shown with a butterfly next to her.
This lovely pendant/pin will enhance any collection with its unique style and beauty! It's a small work of art and a wonderful accessory to be enjoyed for both casual and dressy occasions.
