Vintage 14k White Gold Natural Opal and Diamond Ring, October Birthstone Size 6.25

This Vintage Natural Opal Ring is gorgeous! One oval shaped natural cabochon fiery opal has primarily green, yellow and pink flashes of color that catch the light. The opal is set off with seventeen sparkling natural diamonds in an asymmetrical setting. The opal measures approximately 8 x 11 mm. There are fourteen single cut diamonds weighing approximately .01 - .025 carats each and three full cut diamonds weighing approximately .03 - .04 carats each. There is approximately .25 carats in total diamond weight. The top of the ring measures approximately 13 x 18 mm. The setting is marked and tests for 14k gold. This ring is very nicely made and is in good vintage condition. It is ready to be worn and enjoyed!

Opals have rich meaning in history. Opals have been said to foster love, passion, loyalty, faithfulness, emotional expressiveness, warmth and spontaneity. In Roman times opals were, after emeralds, the most valued gem. At the turn of the century, engagement rings often did not contain diamonds. In the Victorian Era it was believed that each stone had it's own mythical properties and symbolism. Opals were thought to symbolize hope and love.
