This Vintage Opal Ring is lovely! One natural opal is showcased in a fancy yellow gold setting with one created ruby on either side. The opal is oval measuring approximately 6 x 8 mm and has mostly shades of blue, pink and green. Two small round lab created rubies provide accent with pretty color. The setting is marked 14k and tests for 14k gold (not plated or filled). The stones and beautiful setting of this ring will make it a favorite. This ring could be worn as a birthstone ring for the month of October but it is a fabulous ring even if October is not your birth month.
Opals have rich meaning in history. Opals have been said to foster love, passion, loyalty, faithfulness, emotional expressiveness, warmth and spontaneity. In Roman times opals were, after emeralds, the most valued gem. At the turn of the century, engagement rings often did not contain diamonds. In the Victorian Era it was believed that each stone had it's own mythical properties and symbolism. Opals were thought to symbolize hope and love.
