Vintage 19k Yellow Gold Opal Ring with Diamond Halo: Portuguese Hallmarks, Size 7.75

This is a lovely vintage Opal Ring in a halo style! The natural opal has soft pastel colors. The opal measures approximately 4 mm x 6.5 mm. Surrounding the opal are fourteen natural diamonds with lots of sparkle. The diamonds are single cut and weigh approximately .01 carats each. The total diamond weight is approximately .14 carats. The yellow gold setting is marked with Portuguese hallmarks. The hallmarks include a deer head with antlers 800 mark and a castle. The 800 mark is for 19.2k gold and the ring tests for 19k on our tester which makes sense for this mark. It is solid gold, not plated or filled. This petite ring is sure to become a treasured keepsake. In the Victorian Era it was believed that each stone had it's own mythical properties and symbolism. Opals were thought to symbolize hope and love.

In history opals have been said to foster love, passion, loyalty, faithfulness, emotional expressiveness, warmth and spontaneity. In Roman times opals were, after emeralds, the most valued gem.
