Vintage Art Deco 10k Gold Purple Glass Ring - Ostby Barton Size 8.25

This Vintage 10k Solid Gold Ostby Barton Purple Glass Ring has wonderful color and detail! The ring holds a gorgeous cut cornered rectangle faceted purple glass stone resembling amethyst in a setting with Art Deco details on the sides. The setting is marked OB for Ostby Barton, 10k and tests for 10k gold. The ring is solid gold, not filled or plated. The top of the ring measures approximately 14 x 16 mm. It's a gorgeous design. Under magnification we can see some surface scratches and minor nicks to the glass commensurate with wear but this is not noticeable when the ring is worn and would be expected for a ring of this age. This ring is in good vintage condition and it is ready to be worn and enjoyed. Originally this would have been considered a man's ring but it can be worn by a man or a woman. It is sure to get noticed!

O.B. is the makers mark for Ostby & Barton. Englelhart Cornelius Ostby and Nathan B. Barton partnered in 1879 to form the company. By the end of the 1800's, Ostby & Barton was the largest manufacturer of rings in the United States. Sadly, Ostby perished on the Titanic in 1912. Ostby & Barton jewelry is sought after today due to its historical significance and it is known for its high quality and craftsmanship.
