Vintage Cameo Ring 14k Gold Cameo Ring Greek Goddess Psyche Butterfly Vintage Shell Cameo Gold Ring Large Cameo Ring Size 8.25

This Vintage Cameo Ring is just lovely! The ring features a large oval shell cameo carving depicting the ancient Greek Goddess Psyche with butterfly wings in her hair. The setting is well made and heavy, of 14k gold, with lovely gold prongs around the cameo adding to the style of the ring. The inside of the band is marked 14 for 14k gold. The cameo appears to be older than its setting (the cameo was most likely carved between 1900 and 1920 and the setting is circa the 1950's) and both are in nice vintage condition. As can be seen in the photos, the shell cameo displays some crazing in the form of line in the background. This is surface crazing which does not extend through the cameo to the underside and the cameo is not cracked. Crazing may happen with age and does not detract from the beauty or wearability of the piece. The cameo is hand carved shell, has nice large size and thickens at the drape of the dress which adds interest. This ring has great charm about it and is ready to be worn and enjoyed everyday.

This carving depicts Psyche, a Greek goddess. The name Psyche means soul and also butterfly. Thus, the goddess Psyche is often shown with a butterfly next to her.

This ring is very feminine and romantic and is sure to become a favorite! It would make a lovely gift or add it to your own collection!
