This Vintage 18k Gold Charm is gorgeous! The large Etruscan revival charm or pendant has lovely details. The charm has a fancy top shape and there is one blue turquoise stone at the bottom and one on each of the four sides of the charm. The turquoise has beautiful blue color with black veining and the pendant has wonderful details with twisted rope designs and a leaf design at the top. The charm measures approximately 30.5 east to west x 38 mm north to south (including the hanging loop). The top of the charm is marked Italy and 18k. The charm could also be used as a pendant or fob. The charm is in good vintage condition. A very sweet and lovely piece that will certainly be noticed when worn!
The Etruscan revival movement in jewelry began when ancient tombs were discovered outside Rome in the early 1800's. The movement was widely popular throughout the Victorian "Grand" period from 1860 to 1885. In time, the fad for the elaborate Etruscan look faded. It revived for a short time in the 1940's and then took off in popularity when charms were the fashion in the 1950's.
