This Vintage Opal Ring is exceptional! The large genuine opal has fantastic color with flashes of pink, yellow, blue and green. The cabochon opal measures approximately 10.5 mm, weighing almost 3 carats by calculation. The opal is surrounded by twenty-two sparkling single cut diamonds (18 weighing approximately .015 carats and the other 4 weighing approximately .005 carats) in a platinum mounting with an additional four diamonds (three of which are full cut) at each shoulder ranging from approximately .015 to .03 carats each. All of the diamonds are natural and there is almost 1/2 carat of diamonds in total. The band is unmarked but tests for platinum. The ring is in good vintage condition. This is a very high quality and beautiful ring that is ready to be worn and enjoyed! The stone has a lot of life! The ring sits on the finger with a rise of approximately 8 mm.

Opals have rich meaning in history. Opals have been said to foster love, passion, loyalty, faithfulness, emotional expressiveness, warmth and spontaneity. In Roman times opals were, after emeralds, the most valued gem.

Opal is the birthstone for October. This fabulous statement ring circa 1930 would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
