This Antique Gold Pearl Pendant Pin is beautiful! It is feminine and lovely. This pendant / pin features nine prong set pearls in a delicate looking setting with swirls of yellow gold. The largest pearl measures approximately 3mm while the smaller measure about 1.5mm. The piece has an old fashioned "c" hook closure for the pin and also has a hinged loop which allows you to wear it as a pendant. It is hallmarked with an oak leaf and what appears to be a makers mark of two letters that that we could not discern and a star. The oak leaf allows us to identify that the pin was made in the Netherlands between 1852 - 1906 and that it is 14k gold (tested for 14k, not filled or plated). Nicely made, this pendant is sure to become a favorite with its fancy domed swirl and bead design. This design was popular during the late Victorian Aesthetic Period. Electricity was introduced and the workplace changed. Women had more active lifestyles. Therefore, women’s jewelry became lighter and smaller. Delicate rings, bracelets, and pins replaced the heavy opulence of previous years. Small brooches were often worn in en masse, scattered across necklines. This Victorian pendant / pin can be worn every day and for special occasions. This charming piece would make a lovely gift or a nice addition to your own collection!
